Hit the road

http://breakingthroughconcrete.com/

Starting in the 1950′s the hipster trend of driving across country to “find yourself” took hold of the American consciousness. Millions of people in their late teens and early 20′s hopped in a car (or the hippy-famed VW van) and headed west.

The crew from the “Breaking Through Concrete” project are no different, except that their main focus isnt navel gazing, its finding, documenting and shouting from the rooftops about the urban gardening movement. and they are traveling east.

They started out on May 20 from Seattle, OR. with their bio-diesel bus, “Lewis-Lewis” pointed south. Currently they are scheduled to be in Flagstaff (I just missed them!) but they have been having some problems with Lewis-Lewis so they may be delayed.

Follow them as they discover small farms all over the country and report on their findings with absolutely gorgeous photos and video dispatches. and hopefully if we all send them some good vibes they will catch up to their schedule and be in Brooklyn when I am back there visiting in June. I will be emailing them to tell them about  Added Value Farms which is currently not on their itinerary.

have you checked out any urban farms or CSAs in your area yet?
