$7.32 to Green the Beige

My dear friend GreenLadyC is the leader of an eco-arts collective in Beijing, known as Greening the Beige (GtB). Since 2006, GtB members have wored tirelessly to inspire environmental and social change on a community level–but times are tough everywhere, and GtB is in a pinch. I got this message yesterday from GreenLadyC:

we’ve set a fund-raising goal of 10,000 RMB ($1,464.13) from NOW through the end of June that will:

• Pay our domain renewal fee
• Help us switch over to a more green-friendly site host (Green Geeks)
• Ensure the GtB website will be up and running for the next 2 years
• Allow us to upgrade GtB website features and functions
• Sprout seed money for GtB’10

If you can contribute 50 RMB ($7.32) — 100 RMB ($14.64) to GtB, GreenLadyC will write a haiku in your honor and Green Gadget will list you in the “Green Hall of Fame” web page – coming soon.

GreenLadyC is a dynamo (read more about her here) and GtB does amazing work. It also happens that Beijing is a major city where GtB represent a vocal and crucial minority. Just like the United States, China has its environmental issues. Those issues affect us and the rest of the world, and the activists who are willing to stand up and work for change deserve your support. Especially at such a low price.
