My Starter Garden, 2 months later

It’s been a little while since I’ve indulged you myself and posted updates from bragged about my garden. However, anybody who’s spoken with me lately knows that I really can’t shut up about it right now.

Why? Because it actually grew. Everything grew.

(and still has lots of growing to do)

I mean, it’s nothing extraordinary. I live in the desert, and the garden is 8 feet wide, and I only planted like 3 of everything. Still, in the past few days I’ve finally been able to start harvesting: spinach, mustard greens, carrots. And I will tell you this: I’ll never not garden again.

MamaHun said I'd need to thin the carrots while they were still very small. This was great news to me.

I’d forgotten how delicious food is when you grow it yourself organically, pick it with your own hands and stuff it directly in your face.

State of the Garden: It finally stopped snowing, so everything is in the ground. Peas, beans, strawberries, poppies and roses are blooming. Carrots, spinach and mustard are ready to eat. Basil is popping up fast, broccoli and chard are coming right along. Cucumber and melons are just getting established, and the sunflowers and morning glories are growing by inches every day.

I’m watering it every night, by hand to conserve water. Trying to let the weeds grow in as much as possible, since I will move out before too long and the next person might want this to just be a lawn again. Silly person.

basil, and some kinda cute little weed that wants to strangle my basil (note: this particular weed is about to die)

I can’t WAIT for them. My favorites are carrots and green beans but man, right now this mustard is amazing.

I’m glad your babies are growing up to make you happy. That’s kind of weird, eating you babies. But you know what I mean.
