Rugburn Aprons: use it hard and good

I wear aprons. And they don’t make ‘em like they used to.

‘Apron’ originally started out as similar to the Middle English word ‘gird’. That is to say, both an apron or a sword-belt were things working folk used to gird their loins. Aprons were meant to be used.

I got the nickname ‘Rugburn’ for the rough and tumble way I use things. That’s why the things I make are meant to be used – HARD!

Here are a few selections from Miranda “Rugburn” Blakely’s Etsy shop:

The hearts are pockets!

Check out the cut. How perfect is that? It nips in at the waist, flares in a substantial and well-tailored A-line over capris or yoga pants, and cuts your losses somewhere near that contrast-finished hem.

I strive to make high-quality, hand-made, fashionable aprons that can be worn around the house or for a night on the town! I know you’ll find my aprons and other items a wonderful accessory to any wardrobe and a must for entertaining guests and hostessing alike!

Yes.

I wore this very apron for a post-July-4th barbecue, and was by far the best-dressed person there.

In a very Rugburn-like way, it’s not only red, white and blue, but pink! We Can Do It! World Peace through Female Values!

A Rugburn apron does everything an apron should – part corset, part Batman utility belt, part symbol, it makes me feel at one with blacksmiths and butchers and cobblers, has pockets deep and strong enough for keys or change, and looks hot.

As a part of the human race, I am also willing to donate 15% of proceeds from each individual item sold to a charity of *YOUR* choice (within the charities listed in ‘Shop Policies’). I believe that we all have a responsibility for making the world around us a little better in any way we can. – Rugburn Aprons

And that’s an example of how Rugburn works.

Huzzah for aprons!

What a great photo to see on my front page first thing in the morning. <3

And what a delicate little Lladro doll she is. The tough ones never look it, huh.

Big hug to The Hun for suggesting I write about RugburnAprons so I could meet this fine artiste.
